It is so encouraging to see family members pass on the traditions of making pottery to younger family members. That is the case here where Seferina Bell taught her daughter Ruby Panana the techniques of traditional pottery construction. Panana learned well from her mother and has been an award winner at New Mexico State Fairs, Santa Fe Indian Markets, Heard Museum Guild Markets, Colorado Springs Fine Arts, and Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Shows. That is quite a testimony in itself.

Panana works with traditional materials and produces pottery in the traditional manner. She is an outstanding potter and applies beautiful designs. This jar is a good example of her talent. The designs were expertly scaled and applied.

Condition: The jar is in original excellent condition.

Provenance: ex. coll. Frances Sonnenberg, Santa Fe resident.
