Zuni Pueblo Fire God Katsina Bola Tie with Fire Stick - tips

Eddie Beyuka is best known for his bolas and standing figures of Katsinas and dancers executed in channel inlay with a variety of materials—generally turquoise, mother of pearl, jet, coral, and others-skillfully integrated in his famous creations.

Beyuka was featured in the "Jewels of the Southwest" exhibit at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, Santa Fe, in 2002.  His work is in the collection of the Peabody Museum, Harvard University, and in the collections of a number of private individuals.

This bola features a Zuni Pueblo Fire God Katsina which is impersonated by a young man because the dance is such an active one.  It was executed in a variety of materials.  The item in his right hand is a fire stick, part of the paraphernalia he carries.  Silver drums hang from the end of the leather.   It is stamped EAB ZUNI on the back.

Condition: The bola is in original excellent condition.

Provenance:  from a Santa Fe gentleman
