Zuni Pueblo Small Bowl with Four Frogs [SOLD]

Josephine Nahohai started making pottery in the 1950s.  According to the book, Dialogues with Zuni Potters, she states that she was making jewelry when a relative told her she should try making pottery because she wouldn’t have to pay for supplies since everything needed for pottery is available free from nature.  Thus, a new pottery artist was created.  This wonderful small Zuni cornmeal bowl was slipped in white clay and polished inside and out before application of the painted design.  Four frogs are attached to the rim of the bowl and numerous tadpoles are painted on the interior and exterior.  The bowl is signed by the artist.
