Rufina Shije (also identified as Rufina Yalamo Shije in censuses) is listed in censuses as early as 1904.  Although her parents are not listed in censuses, Zia Pueblo records indicate that her mother was Lucia Shije (ca. 1822-?).  Lucia, however, may have been her grandmother; her father's name is not recorded.  She married Celestino Galvan (ca. 1879 to 1884-1942) between 1906 and 1910.  They had no children but adopted two: Amado Shije (1902-1993), a nephew, son of Santiago and Josefa Shije; and Reyes Galvan (b. 1915), a niece, daughter of Antonio and Francesca Galvan.
