Wolf Robe Hunt (aka Wayne Henry Hunt) was born at Acoma Pueblo, the son of Morning Star, potter and weaver, and Edward Hunt, Chief of the Delight Makers and medicine man. He attended Albuquerque High School and took private art lessons from famous Albuquerque artist, Carl Redin.
Hunt moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and opened his own Indian arts shop there. He also studied art under Frank Vonderlachen in Tulsa. He passed away in 1977 in Tulsa.
Hunt painted in the traditional Indian School style—single figure or multiples, no background imagery and little or no ground plane.
