This is a very nice Acoma bowl. The walls are thin and consistent in thickness throughout the vessel. All of the materials are native to Acoma Pueblo. The mixture of geometric and curvilinear designs is one of the most striking and fills the entire body of the vessel, from the rim down to the orange underbody.

This bowl is most likely circa 1940s. The rim top and framing lines are worked in mineral black, which is really dark brown, and are without ceremonial breaks. The fine line and geometric/curvilinear elements are mineral black on rag-wiped white slip, with additional embellishments in typical orange.

There are a few spots on the vessel where spalling has occurred, but it is minimal. Overall, the bowl is in good condition. There are two very small slip cracks at the rim but they do not appear to penetrate through to the inside, nor do they constitute a situation that might continue expanding.
