Helen Naha (Featherwoman) and Joy Navasie (Frogwoman) were sisters-in-law. Helen married Joy's brother. Helen was known for her stark black-on-white Hopi pots early in her career and for exquisite polychrome pots in later times. Her hallmark is a feather:
Featherwoman
This wonderful small jar is slipped in the traditional white slip, over which is painted the decoration in deep dark brown. The design consists of four oval areas, each containing horizontal fine lines overlaid with diamond-shaped lines.
The jar dates to the mid-1990s and is in original excellent condition.
