Katsina Doll Collection

This group of 1 Zuni and 17 Hopi Katsina dolls came from a single collection.  The owner purchased them in 1959 and 1960 on visits to the Hopi villages to witness Katsina dances.  All were purchased from homes in the villages and were the property of the young girls who had received them from Katsinas during ceremonies.  They date from the 1930s through the 1950s.  Some he purchased and some were gifts to him.
