Once Known Native American Potter

Although this jar probably dates to the 1920s, it was most likely made for sale to visitors to the pueblo rather than for pueblo use as one of this size generally had no function at the pueblo. It could have been a practice pot for a potter or an opportunity to use up the last bit of prepared clay. At any rate, it is well made, has a great patina, and is in very good condition. Everything about its manufacture is traditional, as is the design. Condition: very good condition Provenance: from an Albuquerque collector of pueblo pottery Recommended Reading: A River Apart: the Pottery of Cochiti and Santo Domingo Pueblos by Valerie Verzuh, et al.
