Quincy Tahoma had only one interest in his life and that was to paint.  He never developed another interest and that is to our benefit as he produced some truly outstanding paintings during his short life.  He had a number of friends in Santa Fe, San Ildefonso and small villages in New Mexico and he frequently visited them, sometimes for several weeks.  He took his paints with him and painted during these visits.

This painting dated 1953 was titled on verso by Tahoma as follows:  "Thanksgiving Dinner by Tahoma of Santa Fe."  There is a price of $75.00 that appears to have replaced the original price because it is in a darker pencil than the other writing. 

The mountain lion attacking the wild turkey is such a natural thing in nature that it does not appear to be an expression of violence by the artist. He further clarified and tempered such a feeling by including a beautiful and graceful tree in the background that reflects a feeling of serenity as he meant to counterbalance the attack in the foreground.

Condition: The painting appears to be in original excellent condition but it has not been examined out of the frame.  It is framed with all acid-free materials.
