Teresita Naranjo, Santa Clara Pueblo Pottery

Teresita Tafoya Naranjo (1919-1999) Apple Blossom - Bay-Po-Vi mostly stayed at Santa Clara Pueblo making pottery and selling it from her home.  She preferred to represent herself and not sell through galleries or stores.  She apparently did travel occasionally, as this set of 7 pottery flat pendants was made while she was exhibiting and demonstrating at Pacific Western Traders in Folsom, California, in the 1980s.  We believe these are the only items of this nature she ever made.

Two of the pendants are in the shape of wedding vessels, one with a bear paw design and the other with a carved Avanyu design.  Two are in the shape of jars or ollas, each with the design of an Avanyu.  One is in the shape of a bowl with an Avanyu design, one is circular with an Avanyu design and two glass beads, and the last one is in the shape of a hand.

Condition: Original excellent condition.

Provenance: Delivered to us by a gentleman from Virginia
