Corn Moquino is of Zia & Hopi heritage. He married into Santa Clara Pueblo and has been making Santa Clara style pottery since around 1963. He is one of the earlier potters to employ sgraffito style carving.

In this marvelous lidded jar, Moquino filled two large oval medallions with beautiful hummingbirds and flowers. The entire design area is highlighted with sienna coloring. Yucca-like designs, separating the humming bird designs, have coral cabochons inset in the flower. The stopper features carved feathers on the lower end and turquoise cabochons on the upper knob.

This is an extraordinary creation by Moquino.
