Willard Page moved from his home state of Kansas to Boulder, Colorado, sometime around the 1920s. He traveled throughout the west, sketching small landscape scenes. His intimate paintings of majestic views were popular with tourists as souvenirs and were easy to carry home. He wandered through New Mexico, Texas and Arizona, camping and painting.

This wonderful circa 1920-1930s painting depicts an adobe house nestled under a cottonwood tree. It is signed with the artist’s name W. Page in lower right.

The painting appears to be in the original Saguaro cactus rib frame. The frame appears to be original to the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition with minor paint loss at upper center of the painting.

His is one of the largest Willard Page paintings we have ever seen. Page normally painted very small pieces, as they were much easier to transport as he wandered around the American West on a horse or mule.
