Mary Rose has distinctive features that are characteristic to her storyteller and nacimiento figures. The mouths of the figurines are oval rather than round; she uses native clays and slips for paints, but adds a commercial turquoise color for highlights such as jewelry. All of the figures in this set wear turquoise squash blossom necklaces, turquoise rings, and Mary has a turquoise butterfly on her dress.

The figures are charming. The Three Kings carry pueblo gifts for the Christ Child, who rests in a pottery manger. The animals are a cow, donkey, and sheep.
