Annie Quam Gasper and Ellen Quandelacy were sisters from Zuni Pueblo. Both were born in the 1920s and died in 2002. They were known to collaborate on jewelry but they specialized in very distinct styles. Annie preferred to work on channel inlay in a hummingbird design and Ellen preferred to work on fetish necklaces but also excelled in channel inlay. Although their styles were similar, Annie credited another well known artist, Horace Iule, with teaching her the basics of making jewelry and Ellen credited their father, Johnny Quam.

This three piece set is an excellent example of the hummingbird design style for which the Quandelacey family is known. The necklace is stamped AQG for Annie Quam Gasper and the bracelet is stamped E.Q. Zuni for Ellen Quandelacey. The ring is not signed but clearly part of the set. The inlay work is slightly domed and curved with a very smooth and precise finish.

The necklace chain measures 20 inches in length and the pendant measures 1-1/2" diameter. The bracelet is 5-5/8” inside end-to-end with a 1-1/4" opening. The widest part of the bracelet is ¾". The ring size is 7-1/2" and the diameter of its face is ¾".

Condition: The set is exquisite and in original excellent condition.
