Once Known Native American Carver

Many Hopi dolls were carved following World War II to satisfy the demand of the now mobile tourist trade. After years of gasoline rationing, automobile tire shortages, and generally restricted traveling, tourist took to the highway, especially Route 66, and collected souvenirs along the way. Hopi dolls of this style were very popular.
