Zuni multicolor inlay is an extremely popular expression of Zuni art. The rainbow of colors used is derived from specially cut pieces of turquoise, coral, jet and mother-of-pearl. Each of these has meaning in the Zuni religion.

Each stone is cut and meticulously set in mosaic style, touching stone-to-stone, secured with a silver bezel. Although the artisan did not sign the piece, it is obvious that it was one of the finer lapidary artisans at Zuni.

The Silversmithing, too, was just as exquisitely finished. It is clean and the solder joints are non visible. Overall, this is an extraordinary piece. It is circa 1930-1940.
