Apache Gaan Dancer Bola Tie by Eddie Beyuka [R]

Eddie Beyuka is best known for his bolas and standing figures of Katsinas and dancers executed in channel inlay with a variety of materials—generally turquoise, mother of pearl, jet, coral, and others-skillfully integrated in his famous creations. 

Beyuka was featured in the "Jewels of the Southwest" exhibit at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, Santa Fe, in 2002.  His work is in the collection of the Peabody Museum, Harvard University, and in the collections of a number of private individuals.

This bola features an Apache Gaan Dancer executed in a variety of materials. It is attributed to Eddie Beyuka; however it is not stamped with his initials. 

Condition: The bola is in original excellent condition.

Additional Note - a client sent the following information to us regarding the possible artist of this bola:

I'd strongly suspect that the fifth bolo you show (the one where the artist is unknown) is most likely by Vera Luna.  She did Gan Dancers over and over again and, based on your picture, I'd be surprised if this wasn't one of hers.

 Also -- I suspect you're aware of the new book that's come out by Diana Pardue and Norman Sandfield on bolos -- Native American Bolo Ties.  If you're not, it might be something you'd want to explore.  It's published in association with the Heard (Museum).
