Vintage Turquoise Nugget Necklace (c. 1978)

This exquisite turquoise nugget necklace, crafted by a once-prominent Native American jeweler, is likely a Diné of the Navajo Nation. Composed of 54 natural, untreated blue turquoise gemstones. The necklace features a classic graduated design, with the irregular-shaped blue turquoise nuggets increasing in size from the ends toward the center.

The necklace is finished with a one-inch band length of shell heishi strands and secured with silver hooks (see image below).

Originally purchased in Grants, New Mexico, in 1978, this piece is approaching its 50th year, making it a wonderful vintage treasure.
