The Iroquois Brewery was founded in 1842 in Buffalo, NY, originally as the Jacob Roos Brewery. During prohibition, the company survived by brewing soda and near beer and reopened after prohibition ended in April 1933.
The Iroquois Brewery produced a number of advertising items such as trays, coasters, tap knobs, labels, bottles, print ads, tray liners and openers, but the most elegant and sophisticated was this copper sign.
The sign is constructed of copper over particleboard with the raised image of an Indian wearing a feathered bonnet with the word Iroquois on the headband. The date 1842 is embossed in bas-relief, as well. A small oval plaque is attached in lower center that reads (click on the second detail image link to view):
Iroquois
Beverage Corporation
Buffalo, NY
The sign is in excellent condition. There appears to be remnants of the glue from a sticky label
