Sylvia Naha was the daughter of Helen and Archie Naha, and the granddaughter of Paqua Naha. Paqua was the first Frog Woman, and Helen, the first Feather Woman. After Helen Naha passed away, her daughter Sylvia inherited the title of Featherwoman. Sylvia passed away in August of 1999, at the age of 48. She signed her pottery with a feather and the initial S.
This is one of the most intricately decorated seed pots imaginable. One side is designed simply with a large turtle whose shell is crossed hatched with very thin and numerous fine lines. The other side of the jar is a combination of every imaginable Hopi design all integrated into a single complex element. It appears to be a series of pot shards all put together into one design. The result is a beautiful mixture of Hopi symbols resulting in an amazing pot.
Condition: The seed jar is in original excellent condition.
