Rondina Huma, Hopi Pueblo Potter

Artist Signature - Rondina Huma, Hopi Pueblo PotterThe designs on this jar are miniature potsherds, each one in its own secure enclosure.  It is, of course, by famous Hopi-Tewa potter, Rondina Huma. The rim design consists of a series of boxes, each containing a maze surrounded by an orange enclosure.  Below the rim design is a band of parallel lines over which is a continuing line of zigzag lines. The body designs are those both from potsherds and from the fertile mind of Rondina Huma.  Just below the body design is a repeat of the parallel lines overlaid by zigzag lines. An orange circle outlined in dark brown pigment complets the design.

The jar is signed with the artist’s name and village on the underside.
