This bracelet does include an artist’s signature— a scorpion with an S in its center—but we have been unable to identify who’s hallmark this is. The artist—likely Diné, as suggested by the materials and style—was creative, executing their vision by forming an asymmetrical shape to this piece. This bracelet features cutouts to the silver for housing splendid pieces of turquoise and agate. The top of the bracelet is ridged. This provided a gentle slope for the rounded turquoise and triangular agate pieces to be inserted.
The artist chose a bright blue piece of turquoise with a very warm, copper-colored matrix. Brown agate has been placed in three triangular slots, one on one side of the turquoise, and two on the other side. If held up to the light, the transparency of the agate is illuminated. The silver of the bracelet tapers as it reaches down around the wrist and is capped on both ends with half spheres.
Condition: This bracelet is in excellent condition
Provenance: This Navajo Asymmetrical Silver Bracelet with Turquoise and Agate is from a private Michigan collection.
