This pair of Navajo silver and turquoise earrings dates to 2003 and was made by Diné artist Fannie Chavez. Each earring was constructed from a square robin blue turquoise gemstone set in a sterling silver box and with an attached post for pierced ears.  Dangling from each earring is a single sterling silver squash blossom.

Fannie Chavez (Fannie Platero) was active from ca. 1971 to the present. Fannie is the daughter of Mary Platero and Arturo Chavez. She is the mother of Patricia Platero. Fannie learned silversmithing from her mother and great-grandfather.

 

Condition: this Pair of Navajo Silver and Turquoise Earrings by Fannie Chavez is in original condition

Provenance: from the collection of a client from Albuquerque who purchased these from us in 2007
