Square-cut gemstones-in this case, turquoise-are less frequently made than free-flow or round turquoise mountings. The nearly square turquoise is appropriate for this delicate ring. The turquoise is framed in a black substance and mounted in a nearly square silver frame. The framed turquoise rests on a three-prong silver band. The ring does not bear the identity of the Diné of the Navajo Nation Silversmith.
