Made from an extremely sturdy, wired silver band, this is an incredibly well- made bracelet, quite likely from the 1930s. There are four strips of wired silver going around the bracelet, each finely bound to create a very appealing design. Silver is a highly important element to the Navajo people, and interestingly, it wasn't until the early 19th century that they learned to silversmith. Since then, they have become brilliant jewelers, creating many wonderful pieces out of the precious metal, many of them featuring sacred gemstones or other garnishments.
On the front of this bracelet are nine turquoise stones of various sizes, with the largest being in the center as the focal point. The turquoise is a slightly greener shade than is typical, likely coming from the Ralston mine in Nevada. There are brown veins going through the turquoise, offering a rich color presentation and a very appealing visual. To the touch, the turquoise is mostly smooth although it has some natural indentation, which adds to the look and feel.
The bracelet is unsigned.
