This necklace from an unknown Native artisan was most likely made at Santo Domingo Pueblo.  Were it made by a Diné artist, it would fasten in the back with silver wire, rather than the “Pueblo Wrap” seen below.  It features four strands, each of which holds hundreds of thin discs made from white shell. The strands are held together at the bottom by three white beads—some sort of bone, possibly—before separating again to form four jaclas.  This all-white pueblo necklace is unusual and beautiful.

Condition: very good condition

Provenance: from the collection of a family from Colorado
