Native Americans consider the eagle to be sacred. As eagles are the highest-flying birds, they are seen to be nearer to the Creator. The Eagle symbol signifies courage, wisdom and strength and its purpose is that of a messenger to the Creator.
This well-made buckle is fabricated on heavy gauge silver with a cut-out image of an eagle. We have been unable to find any biographical information about the artist, Jere Moody. The hallmark stamp on the back of this buckle indicates it was made in 1988, so he would have been in his early 40’s.
Condition: The Silver Overlay-style Buckle with Flying Eagle is in excellent condition with minor scratches from use
Provenance: From the estate of a former client who amassed a collection of 40 Native-made belt buckles. We have posted approximately 32 of them on our site and the remaining ones from the collection will be added as we receive them.
