Laverne Goldtooth, Diné of the Navajo Nation Jeweler

Laverne Goldtooth was an extremely talented jewelry designer and artist who created fine jewelry using traditional methods. She studied at the Institute of American Indian Art (IAIA) under teachers Lane Colter, Duane Maktima, and Preston Duwyenie. She loved working with fine turquoise and using her talent to showcase the unique beauty of stones.

On this oval section of silver, she stamped crescent shapes and flowing lines, then added silver drops and a star shaped raised center. From this she added a cabochon of deep blue turquoise set in a solid bezel.

These earrings were purchased directly from the artist by the current owner who knew Laverne. They were specially made for her with a clip backing. They are very, very comfortable to wear. They are signed with Laverne's hallmark of a simple letter L, and the word STERLING.
