3-Strand Robert Kaniatobe Rainbow Web Fetish Necklace “First Dynasty"

First Dynasty is a striking 3-strand fetish necklace measuring 22 inches end-to-end, created through the collaboration of master carver Robert Kaniatobe and designer Kristen Kaniatobe. At the center of the piece are hand-carved beaver fetishes, sculpted by Robert from fossil walrus ivory that is between 5,000 and 10,000 years old. These carvings serve as both spiritual anchors and extraordinary examples of ancient material artistry.

Kristen Kaniatobe's design weaves together a remarkable variety of materials, each chosen for its age, rarity, and cultural resonance. The necklace features extremely rare 2,000-year-old glass discs, alongside ancient hand-carved jasper believed to date back to the 1600s or earlier. Complementing these are shell, agate, brass, and copper beads, as well as antique trade beads from Venice and Czechoslovakia. Notably, the piece includes glowing "vaseline" glass from the 1860s and richly colored Peking glass from the 1920s, adding both historical depth and visual texture.

First Dynasty comes with full documentation and a custom fabric sleeve, preserving its story and honoring its craftsmanship.

"The beaver fetishes are hand-carved by Robert Kaniatobe using 5,000 to 10,000 year old fossil walrus ivory. The necklace is designed by Kristen Kaniatobe using very rare 2,000 year old glass discs, ancient hand carved jasper (1600's or older); shell, agate, brass and copper; also antique Venetian and Czechoslavakian trade beads including "vaseline" glass - 1860's; Peking glass - 1920's. The ring is used to symbolize continuity in the universe."
