This is a delicate example of Zuni Pueblo Channel Inlay fashioned into a PAIR Turquoise Earrings. Channel inlay is the term used to describe placement of a gemstone in jewelry in a pattern where each gemstone is separated from its neighbor by a silver strip.

It is difficult to cut each turquoise gemstone precisely to fit within the silver outline. That is where we see the true talent of the lapidary artist. The shape of the earrings is that of a teardrop. The channel inlay is enclosed in a silver frame which hangs from a silver bar which is attached to the pierced ear pin.
