In the Zuni world, the butterfly is anything but a delicate symbol. Representing beauty, transformation, and rebirth—choosing to wear or give a butterfly is both empowering and embodies evolution. This Zuni butterfly was expertly and especially crafted to join the precious stones in mosaic fashion, something for which this tribe is known.
A strong silver base features twisted elements for the antenna and beveled edges around the butterfly’s wings and body, adding texture. Wings made from agate, coral, and turquoise float near a body crafted from turquoise, agate, and mother of pearl. Several different kinds of turquoise have been used, from light green to dark blues with iron pyrite deposits. This pin could be easily added to any attire for any occasion with its silver clasp.
Condition: some lovely patina and oxidizing has occurred with the silver base of this Zuni butterfly pin, and it is in very good condition
Provenance: this Zuni Pueblo Silver and Multi Stone Inlay Butterfly Pin is from a private collection
