Very small, round turquoise stones are shaped and set in hand-made bezels to create this bracelet. Each small piece of turquoise is separated by even smaller sterling silver drops. This early single-row bracelet is a testament to the ability of Zuni Pueblo artisans to work with the smallest pieces of stone. The Zuni petit-point and needlepoint style got its name from the fine embroidery work that was popular at the beginning of the 20th century. Just as some women would spend hours sewing colorful designs with tiny stitches of thread, the Zuni used small stones to create designs to wear as jewelry.

This vintage single-row bracelet has 20 perfectly cut and shaped pieces of turquoise. Time and wear have caused each stone to take on its own unique color, ranging from pale greenish-blue to a deep sky blue. The area not covered in stones has been stamped with crescent shapes. The piece is unsigned and dates to the mid-20th century.

Condition: The bracelet is in very good condition considering the age. There are no missing or damaged stones.

Provenance:  this Zuni Single Row Petit-point Bracelet with 20 Stones is from an estate in Texas
