Marianna Sloan (1875-1954)

Marianna Sloan was a younger sister of artist Joan Sloan. She studied with Robert Henri and Elliott Daingerfield at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women. In 1915, her painting  "Rocky Beach" was purchased for the Pennsylvania Academy under a program set up to purchase works by promising but unrecognized artists. Among her numerous exhibition venues were the Royal Academy in New York and the British Institute in London.
