His upbringing was rooted in the traditional wisdom of his elders, particularly his grandfather-a respected Hopi medicine man-who encouraged him to see the world and embrace new experiences before settling into his life's work.

Following this advice, Lomahquahu moved to Riverside, California, for his education and subsequently served six years in the United States Marine Corps. His global travels with the Marines provided him with a unique perspective, ultimately deepening his appreciation for the profound simplicity and spiritual harmony of Hopi life.

Upon returning home, a chance encounter with an unfinished Katsina doll sparked his creative calling. The immediate acclaim his work received solidified his path as a professional carver. Today, his award-winning Katsinas are celebrated for their meticulous craftsmanship and spiritual essence. Lomahquahu intends for each piece to serve as a vessel of harmony and positive energy, reflecting the cultural significance and aesthetic beauty of the Hopi people.
