David Emmett Williams was of the Kiowa/Tonkawa/Apache Tribes of Oklahoma. His native name was Tos-que, meaning “Apache Man.” He attended Bacone College and came under the influence of the distinguished art educator, Richard West, a member of the Cheyenne tribe, where he learned composition and how to achieve perfection in his art.
