John Fredricks (1949- )

John Fredericks Hopi Pueblo, was born in 1949 in Kykotsmovi Arizona, and currently lives in Phoenix. In the mid-1980s, he was working as a mechanic there. His roommate was Wilmer Kaye, a master carver. Every night when John came home from work, he watched Wilmer carving dolls. Finally, John decided to try his hand at it and found that he was a natural carver. John Fredericks work is very much in demand. John has developed a special technique that enables him to achieve a wonderful and unique patina.
