Bruce LaFountain, Chippewa Artist

Bruce LaFountain (1961- ) was raised on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in northern North Dakota, the official reservation of the Chippewa tribe.  His father was a strong influence in his youth who taught his son about his Chippewa heritage, an education that has stayed with the artist throughout his life.  His sculptures are based on his heritage.  He works in stone and bronze and his sculptures have a lightness and movement in a modernist style.
