RAYNARD LALO, Hopi Carver

Hopi katsina doll carver Raynard Lalo is from the village of Hotevilla, Third Mesa, Hopi Reservation.  His Hopi name is Tawma.  

He was born in 1984 and has been carving katsina dolls since the age of 15.  He uses only natural pigments, crushed to a fine powder, in making his paints.  He signs his carvings with a half spider web.  [Schaaf, 2008:181]
