Linguistic Clues to Northern Rio Grande Prehistory by Irvine Davis

Published in El Palacio, vol. 66, no. 1, June 1959.

Many writers have included linguistic evidence in their attempts to correlate present northern Rio Grande Pueblo groups with those Southwestern cultures known through archaeology, and to trace the movements of the Pueblo Indians during prehistoric times.  This article attempts to determine what contribution to our knowledge of northern Rio Grande prehistory might result from a comparative study of certain languages now spoken in the Southwest and adjacent areas.

There are other articles in this issue of El Palacio, but the linguistic article is the one of most interest to our better understanding the history of the Northern Rio Grande Pueblos.
