This catalogue describes and illustrates ten centuries of prehistoric southwestern pottery, most of it from the Four Comers country, where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona meet. The pottery shown here was collected by pioneering southwestern archaeologist Earl H. Morris (1889-1956). Since Morris's death, his collection has been housed in the University of Colorado Museum.
Most of the vessels in the Morris Collection are illustrated here. While the catalogue concentrates on pieces from the area between Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde, a few pots from other regions demonstrate the variations in prehistoric pottery making in the Southwest. Morris
