A NEW GENERATION OF INDIAN ARTISTS

Potters ⠂Weavers ⠂Jewelers ⠂Painters ⠂ Sculptors

Published in Arizona Highways November 1992

Indian Art: Tomorrow’s Artisans—The exquisite craftsmanship of Native American artists—painters, potters, weavers, sculptors, jewelers, basket makers—is well regarded.  But who will carry on these traditions? Check out this issue for a sampling of the new generation of Indian artists.

Another interesting article is about a dozen Apache warriors who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, America’s highest award for battlefield valor.  They were Apache who enlisted in the U. S. Army under Gen. George Crook and served in his long campaign to end the bloodshed, robbery, and stock rustling by renegade Indians under the leadership of Geronimo, Natchez, and others in the mid-1800s.
