James A. Hanson has written a dozen books and numerous articles about frontier America.  He previously directed the Panhandle-Plains Historic Museum, the Nebraska State Historical Society, and the Smithsonian Institution’s efforts to assist U.S. Indian Tribes in preserving and interpreting their heritage though museums and cultural centers.
