The Etchings of Edward Borein - A Catalog of his Work
by John Calvin
Published by John Howell Books, San Francisco
Hardback with slipcover, first edition, 1971, excellent condition
This volume, ten years in the making, is the first definitive study of Borein’s etchings and dry point work; it contains all known prints, over three hundred in number. In grouping the etchings by subject, John Galvin made his own modifications of Borein’s own classifications, found in old stock lists with titles that Borein offered for sale. The subject headings are: Cowboys, Bucking Horses, On the Range, Moving Around (Stagecoaches, etc.,) Indians, The South-West, Pueblos, Missions, Here and There, and Unpublished Plates.
The Etchings of Edward Borein, superbly printed by Lawton and Alfred Kennedy, is 9 x 12-½ inches with 249 pages, bound in brown linen and stamped in gold.
