Nicolasa and Roberta Naranjo

Nicolasa Naranjo (1907-2002) of Santa Clara Pueblo was the daughter of Tomacita and Agapito Naranjo and granddaughter of Sara Fina Tafoya and a cousin of Margaret Tafoya. She had a long and distinguished career as a potter, making mostly blackware and occasionally redware. Late in her career she and her youngest daughter Roberta Naranjo (b.1946) worked on pottery together and co-signed those pieces. I have been told that Nicolasa made redware in the early 1970s and started making blackware in the early 1980s.
