Susie Youvella (1922-1995) signatureSusie Youvella, Hopi-Tewa, was a marvelous potter, always forming her vessels with utmost care. She routinely made the walls of her vessels the thinnest possible.

Susie was a member of the Kachina Clan and lived atop First Mesa in the village of Sichomovi. She was the mother of Hopi potter Wallace Youvella, who, with his wife Iris Nampeyo, has won many awards for their creative pottery pieces.
