From the Foreword
“In this publication, Barton Wright explores the importance of the Zuni Kachina Cult through the paintings of Zuni artist Duane Dishta. To the extent possible, Wright identifies those Zuni Kachinas that are borrowed from neighboring pueblos and what, if any, stylistic variations distinguish Dishta’s pictures from other known illustrations of a particular kachina. The noted stylistic variations are an affirmation of historical change in the portrayal and perception of kachinas.”
