Marie Charlotte Suina (1964-2010), a master potter from Cochiti Pueblo and member of the Fox Clan, carried forward a rich lineage of Puebloan pottery traditions throughout her career spanning from the 1970s until her passing in 2010. She was renowned for her finely detailed polychrome jars and bowls, as well as her expressive figurative works, including storytellers, nativities (nacimientos), and traditional figures.
Coming from a celebrated artistic lineage, Marie was the great-granddaughter of Juan and Estefanita Herrera, and the granddaughter of Eluterio and Berina Cordero. She learned and refined her craft under the guidance of her parents, noted potters Ada Suina and Tony Suina, Jr., alongside her sisters Caroline Grace Suina, Maria Suina, and Patty Suina.
