Leslie David is the father of Kerry David and married to Nora David. They lived between Polacca and Keams Canyon on the Hopi Pueblo Reservation in the northern part of Arizona.

Les David was a Hopi of the Deer Clan, and he was an active carver from the 1950s to the 1990s. He was a participant in "The Katsinas are Coming" exhibit at Gallery Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, California in 1989 and in the "Following the Sun and Moon—Hopi Katsina Dolls" exhibit at Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona in 1995 and "Arts of the Hopi People" at the Indian Craft Shop in Washington D.C. in 2004.
