Origin: Casas Grandes, Mexico

Casas Grandes, Mexico, is in the State of Chihuahua, just south of Douglas, Arizona. At one time, a thousand years ago, before there was a border dividing the two countries, this area was considered part of the Greater Southwest, covering an area from Durango, Colorado, to Durango, Mexico. This vast area was called the Gran Chichimeca. A large amount of pottery has been unearthed in the Casas Grandes area, attesting to the fact that pottery production and trading have a long-standing history there.
